The Study and Stay™ – Nova Scotia program provides participants with enhanced one-on-one and group support throughout their final year of study at a post-secondary institution in Nova Scotia. Our new program app allows participants to easily gain access to the resources, tools, and connections needed to launch a successful career and fulfilling life in Nova Scotia. The program also includes a managed mentorship component, providing opportunities for students to apply their learnings, build connections, and gain a deeper understanding of Nova Scotia’s workplace culture and job market opportunities.
About the Study and StayTM – Nova Scotia Program
The Study and Stay™ – Nova Scotia program is designed for international students in their last year of post-secondary studies who plan to live, work and thrive in Nova Scotia after graduation. This 10-month program provides final-year international students with career development opportunities while helping them build strong community connections.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
The Study and Stay™ – Nova Scotia program will run from October 29, 2021, to August 31, 2022. Applicants should be committed to living and working in Nova Scotia post-graduation and demonstrate outstanding leadership and initiative on and off-campus. Applicants must be international students entering their final year of study at a Nova Scotian post-secondary institution in September 2021. If you are studying at one of the following institutions, you are eligible to apply:
- Acadia University
- Cape Breton University
- Dalhousie University (Both Campuses)
- Mount Saint Vincent University
- Nova Scotia Community College
- NSCAD University
- Francis Xavier University
- Saint Mary’s University
- Universite Sainte-Anne
- University of King’s College
While there is no set GPA requirement, students are expected to be in good academic standing and to have contributed to their academic and social communities. Participants are required to complete all program tasks and activities. They also must commit approximately four to six hours per month to the program, including time dedicated to the mentorship component.
Students must apply to be accepted into the program. Before you apply, please make sure you are eligible and meet all the mandatory requirements below:
- You must be an international student entering your final year of study at a Nova Scotian post-secondary institution in September 2021.
- You must be in good academic standing at your institution and be eligible for graduation in 2022.
- You must have a valid study permit. Canadian citizens and permanent residents do not qualify for the program.
- Upon time of graduation, you must be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit.
- You must be available to attend a mandatory program retreat for three days between October 29-31.
- You must have a LinkedIn profile.
Before you apply, please prepare a short letter of intent to express why you are a good candidate for the program. This is an opportunity for you to tell us about yourself and why you want to stay in Nova Scotia; explain how you will benefit your peers in the program; express what you have already contributed to your campus and community, and show what you will contribute to Nova Scotia as a whole.
