About the Study and Stay™ Capstone Mentorship
The Study and Stay™ Capstone Program is seeking professionals in various fields to mentor international students in their final year of study in Nova Scotia. Mentors will provide guidance on career paths, networking strategies, and workplace insights, helping students transition into Nova Scotia’s workforce.
Mentorship Objectives
Through this mentorship, students will:
- Explore career paths and future goals
- Gain practical workplace insights from mentors
- Improve skills like communication, time management, leadership, etc.
- Create networking strategies and connect with industry professionals
- Learn methods to gain work experience and career opportunities
- Build a foundation for a lasting professional network
The Study and Stay™ Mentorship commitment is designed to foster meaningful connections and provide guidance throughout a student's academic and professional journey. Running from February to July, the program encourages students to take initiative by scheduling 3–5 meetings, typically lasting 45 minutes each, either in person or virtually. During these sessions, mentors offer valuable insights and support, helping students navigate challenges, set goals, and refine their skills.
Mentor training and a certificate of participation may be provided to support your mentorship journey and recognize your contribution to international student success.
Mentors are also encouraged to track the mentee's progress and provide constructive feedback at the end of the program. While the formal mentorship ends in July, mentors and mentees may choose to continue their relationship informally beyond the program's duration. This ongoing connection can offer continued growth and encouragement as students advance in their studies and careers.
